According to the recently released FICCI-EY Report 2022, Freedish has become India's largest free DTH service with a reach of over 43 million households. Because it has been improved with the addition of better and transparent e-auction processes, better picture and sound quality, and more quantity of channels in different categories.

Between 2017 and 2022 alone, Doordarshan's free DTH service saw a phenomenal growth of almost 100% from 22 million registered in 2017 to 43 million in 2022.

Prasar Bharati's DTH service Freedish is the only DTH service in India where its viewers do not have to pay any monthly subscription fee. Only you have to invest in setting up the system i.e. dish antenna and set-top box.

Similarly, Doordarshan's DTT service is increasing day by day post digitization, as soon Prasar Bharati may start an e-auction system for DTT slots to connect local TV channels on the DTT platform. How to watch the Sports18 Khel channel?

First of all, you will have to buy the accessories of DD Freedish from the local market, although if it is not available in the local market, then it will be available online through a website like Amazon.

DD Freedish Accessories must have the following:

• dish antenna
• Free-to-air set-top box or i-case set-top box

How to do system fitting? (installation)-

Firstly how to connect LNB on dish antenna as shown in the photo below

Now fit the dish antenna mount ie stand on the ceiling or wall, but keep in mind that the east direction should be completely clear.

After installing the dish antenna, remove the coaxial cable and fit the connectors on both sides.

Now connect this cable to your set-top box and dish antenna.

Now, look at the fittings of the dish antenna of the neighbors around you. The direction in which they have installed the dish antenna (mainly Dish TV, Zing Digital, or Sun Direct, etc.) is to fit their dish antenna in the same direction, ie in the same position, but now it is not to be tightened now.

Now come to the TV and connect the set-top box to the TV via HDMI or AV cable.

What to do if no signal comes in the free dish?

Now you may see no signal. So for this now you have to put your dish antenna in the right direction or position. Check the quality of the satellite signal by pressing the Info button on your remote.

Now standing behind the dish antenna, move the dish antenna very slowly first left if the signal does not come then right and check the signal.

If you move the strength and quality line back and forth a bit, then it will stop and try to bring as much signal as possible by moving the dish antenna up and down.

As soon as the signal reaches more than 60%, set your dish antenna and tighten it.

Now come to the set-top box and delete all the channels already filled. Then auto or blind scan. Channel type must be FTA or Free while scanning

If your monitor has an HDMI port -

If your monitor has an HDMI port, you can connect any free-to-air HD set-top box directly to the monitor. If in case the display is not coming even after connecting, then check how much resolution your monitor supports. If it is Full HD then select 1080 resolution in the set-top box otherwise select 720p. Your display will come up.

A home theater can be connected via an AV port for audio.

 If your monitor does not have an HDMI port -

If your monitor doesn't have an HDMI port, buy an HDMI to VGA converter and connect your set-top box. If the display is not coming then set the resolution from the set-top box. 99 percent of the set-top box's display comes at 720p

Along with the computer, Freedish should also run.

For this, you have to buy an external TV tuner. In which you can connect the set-top box with an AV port to the TV tuner and connect a TV tuner to a PC with a VGA port.

Watch & Record Freedish LIVE TV channels -

There are three ways for this -

1. For this you have to buy an Internet TV Tuner which comes in the form of a USB Dongle. Connect it to the computer then install its software. Now connect the set-top box's AV to USB Dongle with an AV cable. You can also use a video capture device.

This is the latest update of Freedish that LCN (Logical Channel Number) 116 is now vacant after the Raftar Media news channel left the platform.

Raftar News channel was recently added on Doordarshan Freedish in the 57th e-auction.

Now a total of 2 MPEG-4 slots are vacant as of 27th June 2022 on the Freedish platform, So Prasar Bharati may add two new channels pro-rata basis.
