To check the signal in the free to air traditional MPEG-2 set-top box, press the menu button from your remote and go to the Add New program and click. Here you can scan every single frequency of DD FreeDish.

How to check the signal in DD FreeDish i-CAS MPEG-4 Set-Top Box?

There is no option to manually fill the transponder or frequency in the DD FreeDish i-CAS MPEG-4 set-top box. For this, you check the cable or connection and try to restart the box or factory default.

If all the channels are still not coming in your DD Freedish, then check the signal level of that frequency after putting the frequency in the set-top box. If the signal for any frequency of the DD free dish is less than 55 percent, then your set-top box will not scan that frequency, and you will not be able to see all channels of that frequency. So if the signal is less than 55 percent then you lightly align your dish antenna to the right or left and then check the signal percentage of DD free dish on the TV screen. You can also use a satellite dB meter to align your dish antenna.

1.Satellite Name:

a) Go to the Installation menu or setup Programme from remote.

b) Select the Satellite Edit menu.

c) Select the Add New Satellite menu.

d) Select Sat Name Edit menu.

e) Enter Satellite Name as GSAT-15.

f) Enter Satellite Longitude as 93.5° E.

g) Press Exit.

2.LNB Configuration:

a) Go to LNB Configuration or Antenna Settings menu. Ensure that you have selected satellite GSAT-15 only.

b) Set LNB Types as Universal.

c)Set LNB Power on.

d) Press Exit.

3.Transponder (TP) Edit:

a) Go to the Transponder Edit menu. Ensure that you have selected satellite GSAT-15.

b) Select Add New TP menu.

c) Enter TP Frequency as 11090 MHz.

d) Select the Symbol rate as 29500 Ksps.

e) Select Polarization as Vertical.

f) ‘22K’ OFF*.

g)‘Disc. Equal’. Off.

h) Select Scan as FTA.

i) Press OK.

Prasar Bharati invites applications for allotment of vacant MPEG-2 slots of DD Free Dish DTH Platform for the period from 01.10.2020 to 31.03.2021 through the 48th online e-auction process. 

The slots will be allotted as per procedure explained in Clause (r) of Annexure-2 of the policy guidelines for allotment of DD Free Dish slots, notified on 15.01.2019 and as amended vide amendment notified on 01.11.2019 which are available on the websites, http://doordarshan.gov.in and http://prasarbharati.gov.in. The 48th e-auction, if required, will be held on 24.09.2020 afternoon. 

Only satellite channels licensed by the Ministry of I&B for downlinking in India would be allotted slots on DD Free Dish. Only license holder company or their authorized distributor partners can apply for the allocation of DD Free Dish slots. 

International Public Broadcasters licensed/registered/permitted by the Ministry of I&B can also, participate in the e-auction. 

Successful Channels will be required to arrange their own IRD Box in advance at DTH Earth Station, Todapur, New Delhi, to place their Channel on DD Free Dish Platform. 

 India's Public broadcaster Prasar Bharti going to launch the DD India channel in a high definition (HD) version. DD India channel recently re-branded as an English news and current affairs channel. It will be the 3rd channel of Doordarshan in Full HD (High definition).

It means DD India HD channel will be available from 3rd October, It is a free channel, you can demand your Cable or DTH operator.

Although both HD channels were already available on DD Free Dish, currently only the DD News HD is available due to limited vacant slots on DD Free dish.

India News and India News Rajasthan both TV channels owned by ITV Network. Both the channels are free-to-air TV channels, and India news was available on Doordarshan DTH for a long time.

 India’s public broadcaster Prasar Bharati entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with Bhaskaracharya National Institute for Space Applications and Geo-Informatics, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.

Prasar Bharati signs MoU with Bhaskaracharya National Institute for Space Applications and Geo-Informatics, Ministry of Electronics & IT, to launch 51 DTH Education TV channels available as DD co-branded channels to all DD FreeDish viewers.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between Prasar Bharati and Bhaskaracharya National Institute for Space Applications and Geo-Informatics under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology aims to bring quality educational programs to every household, including those in rural and remote areas, the government said in a statement.

In this MoU, 51 DTH education TV channels comprising of Swaymprabha (33 channels) (M/o Education) [SwayamPrabha provide 33 high-quality education channels. The channel streamlines curriculum-based course content]. 

e-Vidya for classes 1 to 12 (12 channels) of NCERT. [The Government launched one class one channel, which means a dedicated TV channel for each class for live online classes and tutions]. 

Vande Gujarat (Government of Gujarat) (16 channels).[The Government of Gujarat launched educational TV channels in the language of Gujarati], and DigiShala under M/o Electronics and IT (1 channel) [It is a TV channel launched by Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology to promote cashless digital transactions]. 

So currently available total education TV channels are in DD Free dish - Swaymprabha (33 TV channels) + e-Vidya (12 channels) + Vande Gujarat (16 channels) + digishala (1 Channel) = Total 33+12+16+1 = 62

The services will be available free of cost for all the viewers of DD Free dish, in line with the government’s commitment towards skill development and providing quality education to the last person in the country, the statement said.

“This government initiative will go a long way in achieving the Government’s goal of providing education to all,” the statement also said.

DD Free Dish 50th e-auction Terms -

1. Prasar Bharati invites applications for allotment of vacant MPEG-2 slots of DD Free Dish DTH Platform for the period from 29/12/2020 to 31/03/2021 through the 50th online e-auction process.

2. The slots will be allotted as per procedure explained in Clause (r) of Annexure-2 of the policy guidelines for allotment of DD Free Dish slots, notified on 15/01/2019 and as amended vide amendment notified on 01.11.2019 which are available on the websites, http://doordarshan.gov.in and http://prasarbharati.gov.in. 48th e-auction, if required, will be held on 21/12/2020 afternoon.

3. Only satellite television channels that are licensed by the Ministry of I&B for downlinking in India would be allotted slots on DD Free Dish. Only license holder company or their authorized distributor partners can apply for the allocation of the DD Free Dish slot.

4. In case the applicant company is other than the licensee, the document/agreement signed between the license Holder Company and the applicant company authorizing the applicant/bidder for distribution of the channel and bidding on behalf of the licensee must be submitted.

5. International Public Broadcasters licensed/registered/permitted by the Ministry of I&B can also participate in the e-auction.

6. Categorization of TV channels in different buckets in accordance with genres/language of the channel and their starting reserve price for the allotment period will be as below: 

7. Broadcasters desirous of allotment of the slot on DD Free Dish are required to provide clear and unambiguous proof in support of the genre classification of their channel. In case of lack of clarity, ambiguity, or conflicting information, applications will be deemed ineligible and may be summarily rejected. 8. Successful bidders shall be required to make the payments in 02 monthly installments as per the payment schedule prescribed under clause (5) of the policy guidelines for allotment of DD Free Dish slots. Each installment will be 1/2 of the difference of bid amount and participation fee.

9. Online training will be provided to all eligible participants before the commencement of the actual eAuction.

10. If required, Prasar Bharati can extend the e-Auction to the next day or as the case may be.

The slots will be allotted as per the procedure explained in Clause (r) of Annexure-2 of the policy guidelines for allotment of DD Free Dish slots notified on 15.01.2019 and as amended vide amendment notified on 01.11.2019 which are available on the websites, http://doordarshan.gov.in and http://prasarbharati.gov.in. E-auction, if required, will be held on 28.12.2020.

3. Only satellite channels licensed by the Ministry of I&B for downlinking in India would be allotted slots on DD Free Dish. Only license holder company or their authorized distributor partners can apply for the allocation of the DD Free Dish slot.

4. In case the applicant company is other than the licensee, the document/agreement signed between the license Holder Company and the applicant company authorizing the applicant/bidder for distribution of the channel and bidding on behalf of the licensee must be submitted.

5. International Public Broadcasters licensed/registered/permitted by the Ministry of I&B can also participate in the e-auction.

6. The channel provider shall be required to notify viewers of the need to use the Prasar Bharati authorized Set-top-Boxes (STBs).

7. Prasar Bharati reserves all rights to restrict access of MPEG-4 signals to unauthorized STBs at any point in time.

8. Bidding in the e-auction of MPEG-4 slots will be open to all genre (language) Channels at a starting reserve price of Rs. 28.91/- Lakhs for the period from 01.01.21to 31.03.2021.

9. Successful bidders shall be required to make the payments in 02 monthly installments as per the payment schedule prescribed under clause (5) of the policy guidelines for allotment of DD Free Dish slots. Each installment will be 1/2nd of the difference of bid amount and participation fee.

10. Online training will be provided to all eligible participants before the commencement of the actual e-Auction.

11. If required, Prasar Bharati/Doordarshan can extend e-Auction to the next day or as the case may be.

13. Prasar Bharati reserve the right to accept/reject/cancel/amend the e-Auction/slot at any time during the e-Auction or after e-Auction.

14. Interested broadcasters may apply online at https://fdslots.prasarbharati.org and upload all required documents as prescribed in the application. Please note that it is mandatory to pay the non-refundable processing fee of Rs.25,000/- online at the above portal to submit the application. The participation fee of Rs. 1.25 Lakh (Rupees one lakh twenty-five thousand only) is to be paid only through Demand Draft. A copy of the participation fee demand draft is to be uploaded online.

15. List of documents to be uploaded online is at ANNEXURE-1.

16. After submission of the online application, the original demand draft for the participation fee along with the printout of acknowledgment received for submission of online application is to be submitted in sealed cover either in person or by Speed/Registered Post addressed to Director (DTH) Room No. 601, Tower-A, Directorate General: Doordarshan, Doordarshan Bhawan, Copernicus Marg, New Delhi-110001 latest by 28.12.2020 latest by 12.00 Noon.

17. For unsuccessful bidders, the participation fee will be refunded within three weeks after the declaration of the results of the e-auction. For successful bidders, the participation fee will be adjusted in the final installment of the carriage fee/bid amount.

18. Successful Channels for MPEG-4 / i-CAS slot will be required to arrange their own IRD Box in advance at DTH Earth Station, Todapur, New Delhi, to place their Channel on DD Free Dish Platform.

19. The Last Date for submission of applications is 28.12.2020 at the latest by 12.00 Noon
